“It forms the foundation of the all-governing principles of life for them(Yoruba).  They consult Ifa for guidance and assurance on life situations such as before a betrothal; before a marriage; before a child is born, at the third day of birth (Ikosedaye); at successive stages in one’s life; child care and nurturing; choosing a career; before an Oba is enthroned; before a chief is installed; before a business venture is embarked upon; before anyone is appointed to civic office; before a war is prosecuted; before a journey is made; in times of crises; in times of sickness and even death,” he said.

He further explain that the main purpose of guidance in Ifa is finding one’s destiny, following one’s destiny, fulfilling one’s destiny and spiritual elevation.
