Terrorists have released four more captives of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack, barely a day after releasing a video where they were being being tortured.
The gunmen had in March attacked the train and Kidnapped several passengers, holding them captive since then.
Although they had released some of the hostages in the past, the latest release, coming just after showing video of their brutal assault on the victims has surprised many.
However, a newspaper publisher, Tukur Mamu, who is a media consultant to Kaduna-based cleric, Ahmad Gumi, and had negotiated the previous release of some of the captives, on Monday confirmed the release of the four lucky captives, following the intervention of their families.
He explained that he was not aware if any ransom was paid before they were released.
Mamu said those released are Oluwa Toyin-Ojo; Hassan Lawan; and Ayodeji Oyewumi, adding that Gladys Brumen, was released last week.
Meanwhile, 39 victims are still in captivity of their abductors.
Kidnap for ransom by terrorists has become rampant in Nigeria, which is reeling under crushing insecurity especially in the North-east and North-east of the country.
