53 arrested in drug ring bust across Germany, Austria, Czech Republic

Fifty-three arrests have been made across Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic as part of a crackdown on an International Drug Ring, Austrian Police said on Thursday.

The drug ring is suspected of selling 314 kilogrammes of cannabis, 20 kilogrammes of speed, one kilogramme of cocaine and other drugs for a total of $4.3 million between late 2017 and the beginning of 2019, Police said.

It added that one suspect is still being sought via an international search warrant, while two others have already been sentenced to jail terms of five and a half as well as six years, respectively.

During a series of coordinated raids across the three countries, authorities confiscated illegal weapons and drugs worth around 810,000 euros. (NAN)
