2023 Presidency: I’m still consulting – Atiku

A former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has said he was still consulting with ‘important persons’ over  his 2023 presidential ambition.

He, therefore, promised to announce his intention at the appropriate time.

Recall that Alhaji Atiku had visited former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida at his Uphill Residence, in Minna, the Niger State capital, where both of them had closed-door meeting for about an hour.

After his meeting with Gen. Babangida, Alhaji Atiku also met with Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of the state to commiserate with the state on the recent killings of some residents by bandits.

Addressing reporters after visiting the governor, Atiku said he was in the state on a courtesy visit, adding that he could not leave without visiting Gen. Babangida.

According to Atiku, “I am on a courtesy call. That is all. On the 2023 presidential election, I will let you know at the appropriate time,” he said.

Condoling with the government over the insecurity bedeviling the state, Atiku described it as ‘unfortunate and saddening’.

He believed that something should be done to address the situation.

“I have just discussed the issue of insecurity with the governor. It is a very pathetic situation. In fact, I got a very vivid picture of what is going on in Niger State from the governor. I mean, it is most unfortunate,” Atiku said.
