The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Thursday, announced the formation of two separate Committees, ahead of next month’s presidential and National Assembly elections.
According to INEC’s National Commissioner & Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Festus Okoye, Chairman of the Commission and the International Conference Centre (ICC), in Abuja, will continue to host a National Situation Room and Collation Centre during the elections.

Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, is the Chairman of the Collation Secretariat by virtue of “his constitutional responsibilities as the Chief Electoral Commissioner of the Federation and Returning Officer for the Presidential election. A few technical personnel will also assist him.”
The Situation Room and Collation Centre Committee, comprised of 16 members, will be led by a National Commissioner, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu.

The statement further added; the second Committee will “be responsible for the preparation of the venue, seating arrangement, utilities and services, security, the accreditation of party agents, as well as the national and international observers, media etc.”
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Commission, has since inaugurated the Situation Room and Collation Centre Committee, “charging it to begin work in earnest and to discharge its responsibilities diligently.”
