A pan Lagos pro-democracy organisation, the Egbe Omoluabi Eko (Egbe), has expressed its support for the stand of former Minister of Works, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe over the need for a second term for the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
Leader of the group, Ibrahim Ekundina, in a media chat, in Lagos, Sunday evening, said members of his organisation saw sense in the call from Ogunlewe that the governor, going by his performance so far, deserves another term of four years in office.
Ogunlewe had, in a television interview as monitored by the Punch Newspaper, was quoted to have said that, “for fairness, the All Progressives Congress (APC), must give second term ticket to Sanwo-Olu,” reasoning that, “the governor must be compensated for what he is doing during his first term in office.”

The Egbe, while agreeing with the former minister also reminded that, stopping a winning team in the middle of a crucial tournament can be counter-productive saying, Sanwo-Olu has shown the real stuff he is made of in terms of provision of good governance and so should be allowed to complete the good work he along with his team has started.
According to Ekudina, Ogunlewe could not have been more correct when he said that, “the fact remains that the APC has no better candidate in Lagos State than Sanwo-Olu,” who he confessed has performed above his expectations and so should be allowed to build on what he is doing now during the second term in office.
The Egbe leader also fell in line with Senator Ogunlewe on the assertion that, “the issue of governance is not about Sanwo-Olu, rather it is about party policies being implemented and services being rendered to the people of Lagos,” commending the distinguished Senator for his patriotic observation.

Against this background, the group therefore expressed the need for the all well-meaning people of Lagos State and beyond to examine Ogunlewe’s statement that says, “because of Sanwo-Olu’s exemplary performance, there is no sense in stopping him or not allowing him to complete the commendable works he is doing in the state.”
The group also bought into Ogunlewe’s insistence that, “what Sanwo-Olu has been able to achieve in Lagos and what he wishes to complete; it is the wish of Lagosians that he should be allowed to complete them,” enthusing that, “he has shown through his antecedence that he will not disappoint but rather surpass his earlier achievements.”
