2019: Election yet to start in Bwari Area Council

Verification and voting is yet to commence as at 9 a.m. Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the various polling units within the council.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondents report that at the various units visited, even though materials and ad hoc staff were on ground, verification of names by voters became the major challenge.

At polling unit 004, Dawaki Village, FCT, ad hoc staff were on ground as at 7.30 a.m., with the election materials, but form of supervision by any INEC staff was not available at the LEA primary school Dawaki.

There were few security officers at the polling unit, while residents were seen going about their normal activities at the market, buying and selling, with commercial bike operators plying the roads.

In Kubwa at 2-1 polling unit at Berger camp and Army scheme, voters started gathering as early as 6 a.m. to pick number and security agents were seen with INEC staff on ground as at 7 a.m. with electoral materials as accreditation started at 8.21 a.m.

In polling unit 003/Dutse makaranta, FCT, voters were on ground as early as 7 a.m. along with ad hoc staff but there was no INEC officials, no voting materials at press time.

Report from both Law School, FGGC Bwari, Kuduru, voters were at the centres as early as 6 a.m., while Law School and FGGC voters started to assemble around 6.30 a.m.

The turnout of voters were impressive, traffic was less but commercial motorcycle riders were seen doing their business of dropping voters at their polling units.

As at the time of this report, none of the centres has commenced accreditation but both INEC, security agents and ad hoc staff were on ground as people conduct themselves in orderly manner. (NAN)
