The body of a job seeker, Iniubong Umoren, who had gone missing on April 29, have been found buried in a shallow grave in the outskirt of Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom state capital, with her suspected killer, Uduak Akpan, arrested.
Umoren, a Philosophy graduate from the University of Uyo, had taken to her Twitter handle to announce her search for  a job, pleading with anyone with a means of getting her a job to help her.
The young lady reportedly got an offer via the micro blogging site, and left her Uyo home for the  job interview in the outskirt of town, but never returned.
A friend of the deceased claimed she got a distress WhatsApp voice message from Umoren, calling for helped.
The friend said she immediately put a call across to Umoren who responded amidst fear in her voice, quickly ended the call, and that was the last she was heard of.
The Nigerian Xpress reports that a case of a missing person was reported at the Akwa Ibom state Police Command, while her friends and family, had also taken to various social media platforms, with the hashtag #FindHinyUmoren, calling for help in finding the missing girl.
However, on Sunday, exactly three days after the mysterious disappearance, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command confirmed the body of the girl had been found, after been raped, murdered and buried in a shallow grave.
A statement by Command’s spokesperson, Odiko MacDon, a Superintendent of Police (SP) read: “The Command received a report on the disappearance of the victim. Following available leads, men of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Command, led by Inengiye Igosi, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), consolidated on the initial great progress made by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Uruan, Samuel Ezeugo, Superintendent if Police (SP), and arrested the perpetrator who confessed to have lured his victim to his house in the guise of giving her a job, but ended up sexually and physically assaulting her which led to her death.
“To cover his tracks, he dragged and buried her in a shallow grave in his father’s compound. The deceased has been exhumed and deposited at University of Uyo (UUTH) for autopsy. The suspect confessed to have told his Local Government Chairman of his atrocity before escaping to Calabar and was never at anytime handed over to the Police by anyone.
“Suspect is a confessed serial rapist who has owned up to the raping  of other victims. He will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation. The Commissioner of Police (CP) Amienghene Andrew,  has called on youths and job seekers to be wary of the activities of scammers and other men of the underworld.
“While appreciating the efforts of the social media family and other fighters of injustice, he has condoled with the family and friends of the deceased.”
