A study has revealed the secret to knowing if one will die in the next 10-years.
The research involved the ability to balance one’s body confidently in a ‘standing on one leg test’ with eyes closed which could determine if the person would die in the next 10-years.
According to the research which was carried out for 12-years in Brazil, those who can’t stand on one leg for more than 10 have the highest probability of dying within 10-years.
Scientists notes that people aged
18 to 39-year-olds should be able to balance on one leg continuously for more than 43 seconds while those aged between 40 and 49 should manage 40 seconds.
For people between 50 to 59-year-olds, the figure stands at 37 seconds and 30 for 60 to 69-year-olds. while those aged between 70 and 79 should be able to do so for 18 to 19 seconds.
The research noted that the ability to stand on one leg is an indication of fitness and strength adding that not being able to.do shows the person is prone to bone shattering falls.
According to the Integrated Pathways, ‘ people who struggle to balance for the expected amount of time are at a higher risk of developing ill-health as they age. ‘
Likewise, researchers in the US also discovered that the amount of time you can balance on one foot indicates how strong your bones, muscles and nerves are.
