11 shops, properties destroyed as gas explosion rocks Lagos market

 

 

 

Eleven shops and properties worth millions of naira were, on Tuesday, destroyed when a gas explosion rocked Alayabiagba market in Ajegunle in Ajeromi local government area.

According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA, the explosion was caused by a gas leakage from a gas retailer’s shop where gas cylinders of various sizes were stored.
The fire reportedly spread to other shops in the market.

A total of 11 shops comprising two shops where the gas were sold, and nine others selling clothes, phones, PVC pipes and daily needs were affected.

Properties worth millions of naira were also lost to the inferno.
