Amokachi,Ikpeba, others sign up for Ambode

The rank of Nigerian ex internationals warming up to take to the pitch on May 18 in the Gov Akinwumi Ambode “thank you” game has continued to swell with Dan Amokachi and Victor Ikpeba being the latest to endorse the game.
Waidi Akanni who is the chief promoter of the event disclosed yesterday that the game billed for the Onikan Stadium have continued to get more and more support, even as all arrangements are being concluded.
“As we speak, the number of our colleagues (ex internationals) who have signed up has continued to increase. Ikpeba, Amokachi, Alloy Agu, Mutiu Adepoju, Friday Ekpo, Finidi George, Friday Elahor, Osaze Odemwingie, John Fashanu have all agreed to be part of the show. We are expecting our colleagues from outside Nigeria to arrive on the 17th of May,” Akanni said.
He further disclosed that there would be a Lagos Super Cup game for U-15 boys that would see Eko Boys taking on their Kebbi State counterpart.
“Proceeds from the game would be used for a scholarship program for children of Nigerian ex internationals who do not have the wherewithal to finance the education of their children,” Akanni said.
The Ambode “thank you” game tagged African X1 versus Naija Legends would be graced by the president of Liberia George Weah as well as Didier Drogba.
The event is being put together by The Match International as a way of saying kudos to the out going Lagos State governor for being football friendly.
