Salisu Adamu, Media Officer, Nasarawa Amazons FC, says the players are determined to win the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Super 4 title as a parting gift to Gov. Umaru Al-Makura, who completes his second tenure by May 29.
Adamu told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday that the girls were desperate to achieve the goal.
NAN reports that the NWFL 2018 Super 4 tournament is currently taking place at the Agege Stadium, Lagos, with Nasarawa Amazons, Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens and Sunshine Queens competing for the season’s title.
Nasarawa Amazons have a chance of retaining the title they won last season after beating Rivers Angels to qualify for the finals of the NWFL 2018 season Super 4.

Adamu said the Nasarawa Amazons players had resolved before leaving for the tournament to win the Super 4 and retain the season’s title as a show of appreciation to the outgoing Nasarawa state governor for his support that was instrumental to their successes on the pitch.
“I can tell you now that we have qualified for the finals after beating River Angels, our girls are restless till they win the final against Bayelsa Queens on Sunday.
They have promised already that they want to hand over the trophy to Al-Makura as a parting gift so that he will know how much they appreciate him,” he told NAN on telephone.
Adamu said the gesture was also to appreciate the Nasarawa State Governor for taking care of the welfare of the team promptly and making sure the team was located in the best part of Lagos for the Super 4 tournament.
“Where we were lodged is one of the best hotels in Lagos and the girls are really happy for the gesture.
Everybody is happy and excited. Their welfare has been taken care of and all other logistics has been taken care of and that is why we are recording good results,” he said.
He called on all Nasarawa residents and supporters of Nasarawa Amazons across the country to pray for the team to win the tournament and retain the NWFL title.
“I am appealing to everyone to join us in prayers so that we can emerge victorious on and come back with the cup,” he said. (NAN)
