Organisers of the Alimosho Coaches Council Football League (AFCCL) have concluded plans to end the 2019 season with the second round of matches.
The LOC chairman, Uchenna Samuel Eke told The Nigerian Xpress Sports that they were not leaving anything to chance in the second stanza which kicked off last week.
According to him, the LOC want the schedule of matches to run without hindrance adding that they are ready to work with the various clubs to make sure that the second edition of the AFCCL season comes to another successful end.
“The AFCCL would be rounded off in November. Everything is in place for the second stanza. Going by the fixtures, each team will be playing a total of 18 matches, and 90 matches in total in the entire league,’’ Eke stated.

He added: “Alimosho being the most populated Local Government Council in Lagos State, the league is massively followed which explains why its being followed by millions of people online on prosoccer.com.ng . We have venues extending even to Ashiribo field along Badagry express way. It also covers Egbeda, Igando, Ikotun, Ijegun, Isheri Olofin, Ipaja and Command.”
The AFCCL boss expressed worries over lack of funds and appealed for support to enable them prosecute campaign for the second round as well as subsequent editions.
“I think we should begin to pay more attention to grass root football especially as it helps to curb juvenile delinquency in our society and keep our youth off the streets. So the AFCCL want to use this medium to call on public spirited individuals, the corporate world, other stakeholders and all football loving Nigerians to join hands and support Alimosho League not only morally but financially in order to make it a brand.
“Meanwhile, we remain grateful to Hon Jimoh Ajao, the executive chairman of Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Hon Morenikeji Adeshina, Rolac, Twins Faja and a host of others for all their support since we embarked on this project.’’
The AFCCL season is expected to end on November 18 ,2019. It would be recalled that the maiden edition was won by Samjason FC of Igando currently topping the AFCCL table with 22 points from nine matches, Peculiar FC second with 18 points just as Nissi FC and IGFC follow in 3rd and 4th place respectively.
