A prominent Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Hon. Igo Aguma has filed a fresh court action stopping the party from conducting Congresses in the state.
This action is coming two days after a state High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, struct out the originating summon brought by one Ibrahim Umar and 22 others against the APC congresses.
The court also set aside the interim injunction obtained by the claimants on September 14, 2019, which stopped the APC from conducting the congresses in Rivers scheduled for last September 17, 18 and 21.

The trial judge on that matter, Justice G.O. Ollor, had ruled that the court lacked the power to enforce and interpret the judgement of court of coordinate jurisdiction.
Justice Ollor also held that the interim order of injunction obtained by Ibrahim Umar and others, was gotten without jurisdiction of the court and thereby set aside the order.
Meanwhile, the member representing Port Harcourt Constituency 1 at the National Assembly, Igo Aguma, on Friday entered an order in suit Number PHC/4355/2019 against Me Isaac Abort Ogbobula (Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Rivers State), All Progressives Congress and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
The APC had earlier written the National Chairman of the Party, Oshiomhole, seeking that the current caretaker committee chairman be dissolved and that there should be a reconciliation before any conduct of Congresses in the state. This was also contained in the Originating Summon before Justice A. U. Kingsley-Chuku.
Parts of the Order before Justice A. U. Kingsley-Chuku states “That the Defendants are to forthwith stop, refrain or desist from carrying out any other or further acts or activities with respect to or in furtherance of the subject matter of this suit or the pending applications as a mark of respect to the court and to avoid foisting a fair accompli to the court with respect to whatever shall be the outcome of the pending applications”.
The matter was adjourned till January 27, 2020 for definite hearing.
