Again, FUOYE shines, tops CODET competition in Abuja

...As Ekiti community gives five hectares of landed property for proposed Sandwich programmes

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has added another feather to its golden cap as it emerged overall best in the recently concluded Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology (CODET) academic contest held in Abuja for all Engineering departments across Nigerian Universities.

This was just as the University has received five hectares of landed property from the good people of Itaji-Ekiti, in urgent preparation for a take-off of the sandwich programmes and agriculture factory being organized by the Faculty of Education under the Deanship of Prof. Olujide

A statement jointly signed by Wole Balogun, Special Adviser to the VC on Media Matters, and Foluso Ogunmodede, Chief Information Officer to the VC, disclosed that FUOYE is retaining the topmost position in CODET after clinching the golden trophy in the 2018 edition of the contest.

The implication of this is that FUOYE has the best Mechatronics Department in the country and equally offers the best training in Engineering courses.

While disclosing a repeat of the success story by FUOYE at the recent outing in Abuja, Dr. Adekunle said: “Congratulations to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, and the entire Management Team, the Dean of Engineering, Prof. B. “I want to Congratulate the former Dean, Prof. Amu on the wisdom used in steering the faculty ship and was able to present the delegates for the competition. God bless you sir. While congratulating Dr. Daniel for the beautiful coordination, I can never but appreciate Mr. Josiah Àti of Mechatronics Department. Ati remains my wonderful son, handed over to me by Professor Joshua Ogunwole, the current VC of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, to be groomed and mentored academically, thanks for for your steadfastness and intelligence displayed during the course of the project. I equally appreciate the Computer Engineering students that won the group competition , Mr. Daniel Ibinaye and Sunday Oluyele,” he said.

“For our current VC, Prof. Fasina, the newest feat at CODET is a double celebration because incidentally, he had represented the former VC, Prof. Soremekun, in Abuja to receive FUOYE’s award of excellence in 2018 as the then Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Administration, and now, as fate would have it, he is now the fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE when a greater feat such as this has occurred,” he said.

Adding more colour to the laudable development, is the fact that FUOYE will soon begin sandwich programmes in Summer classes for career teachers in the country. This dream was fulfilled in a recent meeting of the FUOYE Management team led by the VC with the monarch of Itaji-Ekiti, Oba Idowu Adamo Babalola, his chiefs and Itaji Progressive Union (IPU) led by an Associate Professor of Geology with the Ekiti State University, Dr. Adebayo Olajide. The IPU has promised to partner with FUOYE in developing the landed property for the soon to begin Summer degree programmes.

FUOYE is also strengthening her partnership on security and student welfare/well-being with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSDC) , Ekiti State Command. This was achieved in a recent meeting with the new Ekiti State Corps Commandant, John Fayemi during his courtesy call at the VC’s office alongside his other principal officers. FUOYE Management wishes to appreciate NSDC, Ekiti State Command, for this great collaboration and assures the Command of the institution’s support and cooperation.
