The two Nigerian teams featuring in the maiden edition of the Africa Youth Cup holding in the Cape Verdean city of Praia, Restoration Starlets of Yenagoa and Pawas Academy of Jos, would begin their campaign in the tournament tomorrow (Sunday).
Going by the pairings made available to The Nigerian Xpress Sports, Pawas Academy would face home side Volcan FC at the Pensamento Stadium by 4 pm local time, while Restoration Starlets would do battle with Cape Verde Barlavento Academy 3.30 pm local time.
The two Nigerian teams arrived Cape Verde early Saturday morning in a chartered Trans Air flight from Dakar Senegal.
Coach of Restoration Starlets, Diepreye Teibowei said this morning that his side is ready to do the country. A top official of Pawas Chike Ofodile on his side said his boys are ready for the tournament which is also featuring the youth team of Portuguese top club, Benfica.
Action started today in the tournament with Benfica slugging it out with Cape Verde national U16 side.
President of Cape Verde, Jorge Fonca declared the tournament open after welcoming the teams at Estadio National in a colorful opening ceremony.
