The Mayors of Praia and Sao Domingos municipalities in Cape Verde have pledged to support the maiden edition of the Africa Youth Cup billed to take place in their domains from April 19-27, 2019.
The Mayors, Oscar Santos (Praia) and Clemente Garcia (São Domingos), made the pledge during the world press conference held last week in Praia as part of the final build up to the tournament reserved for footballers under the age of 16.

“The two Mayors said they would mobilize their people to be part of the event. They assured us that the two municipalities are ready to host excellently,” Ekadi said.
Ekadi further disclosed that a test run in the form of a four-team mini- tournament was held on March 3 inside the Estadio Nacional de Praia.
“The mini tourney afforded us the opportunity to test run what we would be doing during the tournament proper. All the parties that would be involved in the organization of the event proper were mobilized. These included amongst others, security (police and army), the representatives of some of the participating teams, our sponsors, volunteers and the president of the Referees Committee,Tournament Abroad,” Ekadi stated.
He was quick to add: “We are planning something grandiose in April. It is a challenge for Cabo Verde and Africa. The mini-tournament was therefore an important test for us, the organizers.”
