Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Dosu Joseph (MON), has expressed confidence that three-time African Champions, Super Eagles of Nigeria, will make serious impact at the Egypt 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
In an exclusive interview with The Nigerian Xpress Sports, the former Julius Berger of Lagos FC shot stopper noted that with the calibre of young but immensely talented players being paraded by Nigeria, the country is poised to challenge for the trophy when hostilities begin in the North African country.
“I’m happy with the transformation that has taken place in the Super Eagles since the Franco-German tactician, Gernot Rohr, took over the team. The transformation has brought about quality, which is what football is all about. Nigerians are now beginning to have confidence in the team and the players are also doing what is expected of them. I look forward to seeing them put up a good performance in Egypt,” Dosu said.

Dosu stressed that one thing going for Rohr and his wards is their current forms at their various clubs out there in Europe.
“Nigeria will be the team to beat in Egypt because most of the players are in top form in their various clubsides and are committed to ensuring that the country lifts the trophy a record four times.”
Dosu, who was full of praise for the Super Eagles for qualifying for the continental showpiece with a game to spare pointed out that blending wouldn’t be a problem for the team since Rohr would be hitting Egypt with a good number of the players he took to the Russia 2018 Mundial.
He charged them to come out forcefully against Seychelles in the March 23 qualifier, even though not much is at stake in the encounter.
“My congratulations go to the team for qualifying for 2019 AFCON with a game to spare and I urge them to beat Seychelles silly in Asaba, not minding that it is a dead rubber match.”
On the threat posed by African soccer giants like Egypt, Cote d’ Voire, Ghana, Senegal , Morocco and Algeria, Dosu said they all get afraid when paired to face the Eagles.
“One thing I can tell you for real is that all the other African countries see the Eagles as a nightmare. They are all afraid of Nigeria and do not have more quality players than we.”
