Ex international Waidi Akanni has given a pat on the back on Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo.
Akanni told The Nigerian Xpress today that the China based striker would bang in more goals in the tournament, especially if he gets the balls as he should as the team’s top striker.
“The fact is that Odion is not getting the supplies as he should. He deserves a lot of praise for scoring two goals in the game against Cameroon in spite of the fact that he has to struggle himself for the ball. If he gets the needed supply, I see him setting a goal record in Egypt,” Akanni said.
He charged Rohr to stop rotating his squad, pointing out that Rohr’s style of always changing his line up cost Nigeria the game against Madagascar.
“Let him (Rohr) stick to the 11 men that started the game against Cameroon. He should stop rotating the team,” Akanni said.
The former Lagos FA boss also gave kudos to the incumbent governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo Olu for identifying with the Eagles in line with the policy of his predecessor in office, Akinwumi Ambode.
“When Ambode was there, he supported the national teams massively and it is good to see Sanwo Olu moving in the same direction. The incumbent governor is an Arsenal fan and he would do more for sports,” Akanni said.
