Mr Martin Abeshi, former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has assumed office as the first `Sangarin-Amba’, a fourth class traditional stool in Kokona, Nasarawa State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Amba is among the 12 fourth class chiefdoms established by former Nasarawa Governor Tanko Almakura, in his last few weeks in office.
NAN also reports that the monarch, who formally met with his subjects on Tuesday in Amba, promised to rule with the fear of God.
He also promised to pay special attention to measures that would enhance peace and security.

Abeshi urged his subjects and other Nigerians to co-exist peacefully, support and tolerate one another, and contribute their quota toward building a strong and virile nation.
He regretted the challenges of kidnapping, farmers/herdsmen clashes, armed robbery and other problems confronting the nation, and promised to mobilise his subjects to fight the vices.
The monarch also pledged to provide responsible leadership that would uplift the socio-economic and political relevance of his chiefdom, urging the people to live in peace so as to attract development to the area.
Abeshi solicited for prayers and support to enable him succeed, and commended Al-Makura for approving his appointment as the Sangarin-Amba 1.
He urged his people to respect constituted authorities, be law abiding and always report any suspicious movement around their vicinity to security agencies.
Prof. Mikailu Gurku of Nasarawa State University, Keffi and Mr Jacob Okari, an APC stalwart, in their remarks, urged the traditional ruler to discharge his duties without fear or favour. (NAN)
