As the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic spreads, Nigeria has announced a total of 1,867 new infections in one day.
This is its highest number ever, barely a day after it announced its worst day of the pandemic with the loss of 23 lives.
The latest figures were reported in 23 states across the country.
Meanwhile, Nigeria may be entering the panic mode, as statistics show that one in every six persons (16 per cent) tested for COVID-19 in Nigeria in the past two weeks turned out the positive report.
With the 1,867 new cases, Nigeria now has a total number of 107,345 Covid-19 infections, with 84,535 successfully treated and discharged patients.
Announcing the figures on Friday during its daily update, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) added that there were eight fatalities.
A breakdown of the 1, 867 new cases shows that Lagos led the pack with 713 and Plateau coming a distant second with 273 cases.
