2025 budget: Lagos govt begins consultative meeting with residents

Lagos State government will, on Tuesday July 23, begin a consultative meeting with residents in the state ahead formulation of 2025 budget to discuss developmental projects to be included in the budget and executed by the state government in the coming year.

The forum is In continuation of the philosophy of ‘Leaving No One Behind’ of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration.

In a statement by the Ministry of Information and Strategy, the meeting, known as the ‘Budget Consultative Forum’, is an annual event where government functionaries meet with Lagosians based on the incoming fiscal year to discuss developmental requests and issues as they affect citizens in their various areas, as well as an update on the implementation status of some of the completed and ongoing projects and programmes enclosed in the Y2024 budget.

The forum will be led by Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, and will be a five-day event hosted across the five divisions of the state namely Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe.

The forum will begin on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in the Lagos division at Blessing Hall, Eko Club, while on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, it will be held at the Multipurpose Hall, Radio Lagos, Agidingbi for the Ikeja division.

On Thursday, July 25, the meeting will hold in the Ikorodu division at the Ikorodu Town Hall, while on Friday, 26th, it will take place at the Jubilee Chalet, Epe for the Epe division, and the final day in the Badagry division on Tuesday, 30th, 2024, at the Makanjuola Auditorium in Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo.

Expected at the meeting are representatives of residents, traditional rulers, professional bodies, civil society groups, government officials from state to local levels, non-governmental and trade organisations, youths, and people living with disabilities (PLWD), amongst others.
