2023: Rivers APC predicts easy victory

Blessing Iruoma, Port Harcourt

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that the 2023, Governorship and Assembly elections, would be a smooth sail for them.

The state’s chairman of the party, Isaac Abbot Ogbobula, stated this, in Port Harcourt, while responding to the party’s preparedness, ahead of September 4, 2021, Local Government Area Congress.

According to him, “Governor Wike has delivered into our hands all we need for easy victory at the pools, come the 2023 elections. He has made our victory sure and cheap, owing to his maladministration, poor performance in governance.

“Other defects of the governor he observed include – nepotistic tendencies, zero human capital development, complete decimation of all employment generating institutions and desecration of the judiciary as an arm of government.”

Speaking further, Barr. Ogbobula noted what he described as zero capital development in rural areas, non educational development, as well as poor health infrastructure.

Reacting to the recent report credited the state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Desmond Akawor, that the leader of the APC and Transportation Minister, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi would soon return to the party, the APC chairman denied it.

“I can assure you, Governor Nyesom Wike and Amb. Desmond Akawor, are rather scheming to defect to the APC, and we have our information on a good authority,” he vowed.

Regarding the alleged lack of internal democracy in the Rivers APC,  Ogbobula vouching for a successful and peaceful congress, maintained that APC is the most transparent party in the country, and respects democracy, in all conducts and transactions.

On the existing misunderstanding with the Senator Magnus Abe led group, for which they were were denied nomination forms, the party chairman defended that all who acquired genuine tellers were given nomination forms.

He submitted that the misunderstanding in the APC is not different from what obtains in other political parties. “In political parties, people agree to disagree. Ours is not different, and at the proper time, we ll reconcile ourselves, be our united, big and formidable party.
