2023: Machina agog as Lawan criss-crosses Yobe North canvassing for votes for APC

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, was on campaign trail, on Wednesday, to three of the six Local Government Areas that make up the Yobe North Senatorial District to canvass for votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the polls.

Lawan who is the APC Senatorial candidate for Yobe North was received by massive crowds in all the Local Government Areas visited.

The Zonal campaign for Yobe North was flagged off in Lawan’s home town of Gashua, Bade Local Government, on Saturday 11th February, 2023. But on Wednesday, Lawan embarked on local government by local government campaign with Machina Local Government as the first port of call.

The Wednesday rallies were a carnival of sorts and celebration galore across the LGAs. The Senate President paid homage first to the Emir of Machina, HRH Alhaji Bashir Albishir Bukar before addressing a well attended rally at the Emir of Machina Palace Arena.

From Machina, the campaign trail progressed to Nguru in Nguru Local Government Area where Lawan also paid homage to the Emir of Nguru, HRH, Alhaji Mustapha Ibn Mai Kyari after which he addressed a rally at the Emir of Nguru Palace Arena.

The campaign trail for Wednesday terminated late evening at Jajimaji, headquarters of Karasuwa Local Government.

Everywhere he visited, Lawan, who is currently a sixth term federal lawmaker and fourth term senator representing the Senatorial District, urged his people to vote again for the ruling APC.

He appealed passionately to his constituents to turn up en masse at the polls on the scheduled days to cast their votes for the APC Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.

The Senate President also drum up similar support for the incumbent state governor who is running for second term Hon. Mai Mala Buni and other candidates of APC.

Addressing the Machina rally, Lawan told his constituents that Yobe North is the nerve centre of APC in Yobe State and urged them in the zone to show their strength by the size of their votes.

“I want to seize this opportunity to urge us from this zone that we should vote for APC. I believe APC will be victorious at the poll.

“Our Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, our brother and our neighbour, Senator Kashim Shettima, we should give them our votes to maintain our leading role in the state.

“Secondly, I want Machina Local Government Area to lead other local governments to return the highest number of votes in the Zone. We should turn up at the polls to cast our votes in large number so that our Zone will continue to maintain our leading role among the Zones in the state,” Lawan said.

He urged them to be patient and be ready to persevere at the polls for their accreditation process and cast their votes.

Lawan is scheduled to hold similar rallies Thursday in the remaining three LGAs of Yusufari, Jakusko and Bade.
