Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State says he already informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intention to run for All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the 2023 presidential election.
This was coming scarcely 24 hours after National leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made known his intention to succeed President Buhari in 2023 after a similar visit to the President.

Governor Umahi, who said the President encouraged him to consult generally, said he was unperturbed by Tinubu’s entrance into the race as he accepts that the contest isn’t about might.
Governor Umahi, who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in 2021, emphasised his previous position that the former ruling party, the PDP, was not prepared to give the 2023 ticket toward the South East, adding that he has a possibility assuming the APC opens the ticket up.

He said assuming he gets the opportunity, his presidency will reproduce his endeavors in Ebonyi State at the national level, saying that he has a ton to show in running governance as business.
The governor also said he upholds a political solution to the insecurity issues in the South East, noticing that economic exercises of the region have been incredibly affected.
