Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has blamed delegate system mode of primaries as the reason about 178 serving members of Lower Chamber of the National Assembly failed to secure the tickets of the political parties to return to the house.
Hon. Gbajabiamila said this recently in his remarks at the resumption of plenary after over one month of recess.

According to him, the delegate mode of primary was what the House fought for by making direct primaries compulsory in the Electoral Act which the President has yet to sign.
He said that the clause of the Electoral Act that allows only for the delegate system had to be expunged to allow political parties to decide their mode of primaries to select their candidates for various elections.
