The All Progressives Congress (APC) has broken its silence on the report making the rounds that former President Goodluck Jonathan has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling party.
Chairman of the Bayelsa State Chapter of the APC, Dennis Otiotio, on Tuesday, stated that the former president has not joined the party.
He, however, said the ruling party was willing to receive the former president into its ranks ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The Bayelsa APC chairman stated this while reacting to the alleged presidential ambition of the former president on the platform of the ruling party.
Otiotio, in his reaction, said, “The former president is not yet a registered member of APC. He is free to join any party of his choice.
“We are open and willing to receive him into our fold, as a political party desirous of winning elections, the only way to go is by admitting people into the party.”
This comes after a coalition of northern groups purchased the APC presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for Jonathan.
The former president, however, in a statement released through his spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze dissociated himself from the purchase of the forms.
According to Eze, Jonathan did not authorise the purchase of the form of the ruling party.
