Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Andoni Ward 1, Rivers State has explained reason they suspended the federal lawmaker representing the Andoni/Opobo Constituency in the House of Representatives, Awaji-Inombek Abiante

In a statement titled “Notification of the Suspension of Hon. Awaji-Inombek Dagomie Abiante” and signed by Mr. Dike Bara (CTC Ward Chairman), Mr. Dokubo Jackson (CTC Ward Secretary) and 12 others alleged that the lawmaker loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara was involved in anti-party activities.

The Executive of the Ward, claimed that the federal lawmaker was recruiting some persons who allegedly intimidate other members.

The statement reads: “From the Ward 1 meeting held at the ward office in Ngo town on Monday, the 29h day of April, 2024, which discussed in-depth, issues affecting the party and how to reposition and prosper the party at the ward level, the Caretaker Committee (CTC) of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ward 1- Ngo town, the leaders of the party and the general stakeholders of the referenced ward unanimously adopted the following resolutions:

“That Hon. Awaji-inombek Dagomie Abiante should be and, is hereby suspended from the Party for not only promoting factions at the Ward level, but also belonging to a group under the guise of the Party: not being a group provided for in the Part’s Constitution. Which action is in breach of S. 58(1)0) of the Party’s Constitution.

“That the suspension of Hon. Awaji-inombek Dagomie Abiante is also predicated upon his involvement in unauthorized publicity of disputes within the Party, creating a parallel Party organ at the Ward level and, his involvement in anti-party activities. Thereby, causing disaffection among members of the Party and threatening peaceful, lawful and efficient conduct of the business of the Party at the ward level. Thus, in breach of S. 58(1)(),(e)&(h) of the Party’s Constitution.

“Furthermore, the suspension of Hon. Awaji-inombek Dagomie Abiante became indispensable putting into consideration, his involvement in organizing, trains, equips and encourages the organization, retention, training, equipping of group of members for the purpose of employing violence, coercion and other form of intimidation within the party. Thereby, breaching S. 58(1)(k) of the Party’s Constitution

“The party at the ward states clearly that we are committed to the party and are determined to weed out all bad eggs who are acting as agents of opposition political parties to weaken our party no matter how highly placed and to ensure that our ward remains PDP no matter the amount of inducement or threat”.

THISDAY recalled that Abiante and other five federal lawmakers have in recent time stood firm in support of Governor Fubara amidst the political crisis in the state.
