No fewer than 16 Persons have been confirmed dead as a result of Yellow Fever Outbreak in Ndigele community of Izzi local Government Area of Ebonyi State in the last two weeks .
The Ndigele community of Izzi local Government Area of Ebonyi State made the disclosure in Abakaliki the capital city during an interactive forum with newsmen.
Dr Achi stated that the Outbreak occurred on 15th July 2019 when the state government was alerted on the Outbreak of the disease by a citizen of the affected community.
He expressed regret that before the reports could get to the state government , a total of 16 deaths have been recorded.
He opined,”Officials of the Ministry of Health moved to the affected community ,we notified the Federal Ministry of Health Abuja and they all have been in the state for the past two weeks”
He restated that Officials of the Federal Ministry of Health and National Center For Disease Control Abuja (NCDC) have been in the state with Drugs and other Consignments used in the treatment of survivors.

According to him,” A member of the affected community called me on telephone and informed me of lots of deaths in the community , the way the victims died appears they were having the same kind of symptoms”
The Permanent Secretary said that Survivors of the epidemics were admitted at the National Virology Centre Abakaliki for treatment .

“Most people in the rural communities of the state have the belief that Yellow Fever is not treated in the hospitals , that was why instead of the affected going to the hospitals on time , they went to Herbal homes leading to the spread of the disease”
Dr Achi affirmed that Officials of the State Ministry of Health have embarked on Yellow Fever Vaccination Campaign in the state to turn further escalation of the epidemics.
It should be noted that Yellow Fever is a viral infection transmitted by a Specie of mosquito known as Abgisti Mosquito.
However it is not like Lasser Fever that can be contracted by nursing a patient, a victim must be beaten by the mosquito before one could be infected with the virus.
