A 13-year-old girl, Okechukwu Favour, has been gang raped to death by suspected hoodlums at No 4. Olanrewaju Street, Ejigbo area of Lagos.
The ugly incident reportedly happened on September 30, around 8:30p.m.
It was gathered that the late Favour was sent by her mother to buy a carton of Gala sausage roll, when she was abducted by the hoodlums.
The suspects allegedly dragged the girl to an apartment owned by Ajom Brimcewil Tabi, located on the mentioned address, where they perpetrated the heinous crime.
Preliminary investigation revealed that hours after the deceased did not return from the errand, a search party was raised to look for her.
It was learnt that the father of deceased was later informed of a rape victim, whose lifeless body was found. On racing to the scene, it was confirmed it was Favour.
According to the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while Tabi has been arrested, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered a thorough investigation into the case.
Adejobi said: “ She was sent on errand by her mother to go and buy a carton of Gala for her at Olanrewaju street, Ejigbo, but when Favor did not return on time, a search party was raised to look for her, till when her father came back from work. The father also joined in the search.
“Later information got to them that a girl had been raped to death at No.4, Olanrewaju Street Ejigbo. On getting there, the body of Favor Okechukwu was found dead in a room that belonged to one Ajom Brimcewil Tabi. The body was found stark naked with blood flowing out of her private part.
“The said Brimcewil Tabi has been arrested and detained. The commissioner of police Lagos has ordered for thorough Investigation into the case.
“While the CP condemned such barbaric act, and vowed to fight rape, defilement and other crimes headlong in Lagos State.”
