The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, on Thursday released the cut-off marks for admission into public universities in 2022 despite the ongoing strike action of University lecturers, running into it’s sixth month.

The university admissions examinations body said it had approved 140 as the national minimum cutoff marks for admission into universities, adding that the decision was reached at the ongoing Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.

JAMB also approved 100 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

JAMB’s Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who announced the decision, disclosed that a total of 378,639 of the 1,761,338 who wrote the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) scored 200 and above.

He explained that institutions also reserve the right to fix their own cut-off marks even up to 220.
However, he added that no one would be admitted with marks less than the agreed minimum marks of 140 for Universities and 100 for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.
