Yaro said they were being held for allegedly being involved in terrorist activities in the state, including attacks on individuals and security personnel and facilities, which resulted in the death of many police officers.
The police boss claimed that 57-year-old Okeke confessed to being a facilitator and financier of IPOB/ ESN operations in the state to the tune of N10 million while he was outside the country.
He further explained that the suspects were arrested with the collaboration of one of their members, one Emmanuel Nnaji, who hailed from Awala in Ideato South LGA of Imo State.
“On interrogation by the command’s tactical teams, the suspect gave a vivid description of a hotel located in Orlu as where they, the bandits, stayed , planned, before they executed their dastardly act on the police stations,” Yaro said.
According to him, the following items were recovered from the suspects: Five pump action guns,three single barrel locally made pistols, 86 live cartridges, one AK47 rifle with two magazine loaded with 55 rounds of live ammunition, two double barrel cut to size guns, four double barrel locally made pistol, charms, two bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, four pairs of army camouflage uniforms, a camouflage bag and a sign board with Biafran insignia as well as Biafran flag, beret and ESN cap.
