100 political, civil society group meet to chart course for national rebirth

About 100 political, society and business groups, on February 4 to 6 2022, met in Lagos to chart a new course for the country through consensus.

The committee involves 14 current governors, 13 former governors, and three former Senate Presidents under the aegis of ‘The 2022 Committee.’

In a statement from the committee signed by Kashim Ibrahim Imam, it stated there is ” urgent need to seek common ground and irreducible minimum actions to stabilise the polity at this critical time of transition.”

To achieve its objectives, the group says it will work with federal and state governments as well as other prominent Nigerians to chart a new course for the good of Nigerians.

The committee, which has  three sub-committees comprising national security, the economy and Nigeria in transition, says while it is not acting as a political party, it is interested in the quality of leadership that will emerge in 2023.

It called on all Nigerians to come together and join the committee to rescue the country from all political, economic and security challenges, to build a new Nigeria ” we can all be proud of.”
