As part of activities marking his 100 days in office, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has commissioned a training programme in compressed earth brick making and laying for 246 youth and women drawn across the state.
The governor kick-started the training session at a ceremony held at the Lafia Government House, on Monday.
He said the programme was in tandem with his administration’s policies anchored on wealth creation, employment generation and poverty alleviation, through a mechanism of youth empowerment for self-reliance.

He disclosed further that the compressed earth bricks making and laying project is part of the initiative of his administration tagged “Revolution of Youth Empowerment”, deliberately conceived to give effect the state government’s economic empowerment programmes.
Governor Sule said 41 fabricated bricks making machines will be distributed to the beneficiaries, with 6 participants to one machine.
While charging the beneficiaries to make use of the opportunity towards ensuring maximum utilization, the governor directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government, to henceforth patronize the products to be produced by the beneficiaries after the training, he equally appealed to elected as well as appointed government officials to also patronize the beneficiaries in order to give them a sense of sustainability.
The governor also used the opportunity to reiterate the resolve of his administration to accord skills acquisition, entrepreneurship training and development for youth, the desired attention, considering the number of youths and enormous potentials yearning to be harnessed.
“Based on our feasibility, the project is economically viable and will be beneficial to the state in view of the availability of quality letarite, the raw material for the project,” the governor stated.
Earlier, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Youths Affairs, Sports and NGOs, Hon. Yakubu Kwanta, said the training was designed to key into the industrialisation policy of the state government, consisting of a week-long vigorous theoretical and practical session for bricks production enterprise.
In the same vein, the governor has flagged off the construction of rural feeder roads across the three senatorial zones of the state in Agwade of Obi Local Government Area, at the cost of over N337.
Engineer Sule recalled the pledge he made during his inauguration of constructing rural feeder roads (Trunk C) in each of the three senatorial districts within his first 100 days.

As part of the fulfilment of his pledge, the governor flagged off the construction of Agwade-Shupe-Atabula-Obi roads, with that of Shabu-Doka-Arugba-Lakio, Kanje-Abuni and Kagbu A-Atsoko-Kagbu Wana roads also earmarked for construction.
The governor said all the roads would be constructed through direct labour in order to reduce cost and enhance the capacity of the Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development.
He noted that his administration considers rural development as cardinal towards the provision of infrastructural facilities for all round development of the state.
Governor Sule called on professionals working on the project to see the construction of the roads as a litmus test.
Speaking at the occasion, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development, Engr. Ahmed Bashir, said his ministry would collaborate with local construction firms on the project, aimed at exposing the staff of the ministry to knowledge and expertise in the fields of engineering and feeder roads construction.
